"If you were to send a postcard from Nottingham, what would it look like?"

 

Similar to the question about favourite places, the purpose of this question is for us to develop an understanding of how people value different places in Nottingham. 

 

These postcards can be easily compared with the responses to the question "Where is your favourite place in Nottingham?".  The postcards seem to mostly focus on choosing a striking image, as opposed to the favourite places which are chosen by each person based on their experiences and memories. It is interesting to note, however, that the postcards specifically addressed to a friend or relative seem to be more personalised, commenting on things like the traffic. 

 

It seems that when thinking of a postcard, we think more about the visual image making an impact, rather than the emotional value we assign to our favourite places.
