Kid's Guide to Nottingham

Kids’ Guide to Nottingham aims to provide children in Nottingham with a “cultural survival guide” containing fun facts, things to do and activities introducing them to the city.

By organising different workshops in three Nottingham primary schools, we explored the means of collecting precious data all about how to see a city through the eyes of a child. Design and art techniques helped us to talk about this complex issue. Group mapping, individual mapping and collaging, as well as experimental curating lead our discussions. Using these methodologies, we encouraged Nottingham’s children to help us to design our “survival guide” by telling us the types of things they are interested in, as well as the types of things that they value. The children told us all about their favourite places in Nottingham, created posters about their lives and personalities, and talked about items which they find important.
