WEST BRIDGFORD JUNIOR SCHOOL

Our research goal was to discover changes in schoolchildren's understanding of sanctity by asking four age groups how they perceive and relate to that concept. We discovered commonalities as well as differences between these groups. We distinguished four most common sacredness-related categories: "Personal," "Religion," "Nature," and "Other." The first two were the most popular across all age groups, with "Nature" and "Other" coming in last. The sacred places that were most mentioned by the participants were: churches, graveyards, mosques, and homes. We used the data and their drawings we to build abstract maps for the children that depicted their relationship with sacredness.
