38 CARRINGTON STREET - URBAN ROOM

Inside 38 Carrington Street is an ‘Urban Room’, a space dedicated to encouraging people to learn about the area’s architectural history, present and future. Our work forms a part of a Heritage Lottery Fund project run by Nottingham City Council, where buildings in the Carrington Street area are being given a ‘face-lift’ to restore them to their former glory.

Using various methods of research, we have designed an exhibition containing interesting information about the built environment surrounding Carrington Street. We hope to bring attention to how the street has changed over the years, and how it is yet to change due to ongoing demolitions and new buildings being constructed. We were also able to contribute ideas towards designing a dynamic exhibition space to contain all of the information.

Throughout the years, the ‘Urban Room’ will be collecting feedback from the people of Nottingham to see how / whether their perception of Carrington Street changes with the regeneration project that’s going on.

Architectural Features

In order to create interactivity and encourage people to go and explore the architecture of Carrington Street, we designed this leaflet all about architectural features. Can you spot any of these features on buildings around you?
