Drawing Nottingham

Creating a collective map of Nottingham.

An important part of our interactive workshops has been drawing a map of Nottingham together. Without all of the participation, we would have no map! Scroll through these images to see how the map has evolved from its' starting point.

Can you see which drawings were added at each different workshop? Visit our interactive map for more information.

Nottingham Central Library Exhibition

 2016 - 2018

The exhibition at Nottingham Central Library in  2016 is where the map we have collectively drawn all began! Starting with just the Council House right in the middle of a blank canvas, everything else has been added by the people who came along to these workshops.

ROTOR Conference, Huddersfield

February 2018

After the map was drawn on blank paper at the Nottingham Central Library, we put the drawings all together to allow people to continue adding to the map.

At these exhibitions, we have also displayed work from our other MapNotts projects.

Global Week, Nottingham Trent University

March 2018

Throughout these exhibitions, people have been adding to the map, as well as drawing separate postcards, Nottingham Monopoly cards and more. These images show the postcards drawn during Global Week at Nottingham Trent University. It may be interesting to notice that even though so many people have pointed out Wollaton Hall to be their favourite place or to be the image on a Nottingham postcard, nobody has drawn it on the map so far.

Nottingham Heritage Partnership Day at Nottingham Castle

March 2018

The responses from this workshop are from visitors to the Nottingham Heritage Partnership Day, and so most of these responses are focussed around our heritage. At this workshop, there were additions to the map such as the old Victoria Train Station which was demolished long ago.
