Mapping Sacredness at NTU

Mapping Sacredness at NTU looks into what sacredness means to the staff and students at Nottingham Trent University. This research pilot was used as a preliminary test to see whether the users of NTU felt the campuses were inclusive enough and provided them with sacred spaces where they could read, meditate, pray, and partake in any other activities which they consider sacred.

Mapping Sacredness at NTU - Preliminary Map

This study consisted of an online and in-person questionnaire where people shared their thoughts on sacredness at NTU. The in-person questionnaire encouraged people to draw sacred spaces, whether that be their ideal space or an existing space that was personal to them. This study also investigated existing sacred spaces at NTU, from which a map was created to show these. The larger the illustration, the more it was mentioned.

This was a preliminary study which was presented to Clive Foster in July 2024 as a written report with analysis to begin to highlight where NTU needs to take action to be more inclusive of its diverse users.
